Bringing Together a Shared Understanding

  • Sharing ideas and agreeing how best to understand the current concerns.

  • Providing information about brain injury.

Making a Difference

The plan for support will depend on the unique circumstances of each young person, their family set up, and their personal goals.

1:1 work can include:

  • Education about brain injury

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

  • Narrative therapy

  • Solution focused therapy

  • Trauma and bereavement work

  • Life story work

  • Emotional literacy

  • Systemic therapy


Wider work can include:

  • Positive behaviour support plans

  • Neuropsychological training for school and home staff

  • Supervision for school staff and support worker(s)

  • Emotional support for parents, siblings and the whole family, including systemic family therapy.

  • Neuropsychological strategies and systems to develop skills and ways of compensating for the effects of a brain injury.

  • Guidance with educational provision and the content of an education, health and care plan (EHCP).
